W3C QA Tools and miscellaneous

Someone asked me more information about W3C Tools specifically for
checking.
some of them are old, some of them are not maintained but most of them
are under W3C Software License (MIT kind).
The home of QA tools is http://www.w3.org/QA/Tools/ and http://www.w3.org/Status

Hope it is useful for someone else.
