I agree with Ben on point one and three, but for me @summary is an 
elegant solution that is well supported by screen readers and browsers 
alike. It has limitations but there is still no real functional 
alternative to it that is as simple to author. What is does, it does 
well, and it serves the blind user group well. To me it's a no brainer 
to retain it, or at least keep it until we engineer something better. To 
obsolete it is daft, to my mind.

Anyway, HTML6 anyone?
