And also remember that you serve page in XHTML you should use
application/xhtml+xml and web browser like Firefox - that correctly read the
document like XML when served differently from text/html - break the page
with errors: so invalid code means also inaccessibility for future web
content produced in conform XHTML.

Exactly, in more the code does not have to be only valid but also rich of
metainformation that can be advantage the new user agent.
