RE: HCLS Demo at ISMB/ECCB

I'll also add that there were many (young) researchers wanting to get involved in Semantic Web activities. I strongly encouraged them to participate with HCLSIG and pointed them to our pages and mailing list. (Several groups had large amounts of RDF data that they were willing to put into the public web space-- we need to see how best to work together so that all the data in 'linked' as effectively as possible).

In browsing the ISMB posters, a large number of them either mentioned Semantic Web or RDF, a sign that it is becoming acceptable in bioinformatics and genomics. I agree with Scott, ISMB next year will be an important venue for many of us in HCLS...

As for the demo, I have a few ideas of making the query interface more user-friendly to non-SQL folks-- let's discuss over the next few days.

cheers,
Eric

Good news! Congrats and thanks, Eric!

If you prepared any new materials (additional slides, etc) or have
any tips on how you approached the presentation, please send them on.

Best,
Alan
