I am of course in favor of the Clark notation. But as long as Schema 
will
support the other notation, the problem will still be there.

There are simple things that we cannot do today because if this 
limitation:
- generate as output an element with an xsi:type attribute
- write a Xquery expression that transforms a XML Schema
into another XML Schema,
etc
