Request to Reconsider Meta Generator Alt Exception

Dear HTML Chairs & Colleagues:

On 26 January last the HTML-A11Y Task Force teleconference meeting
reached consensus on a resolution requesting reconsideration of one
aspect of the Issue-31 decision logged at:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2011Apr/0451.html

We request reconsideration of the portion of the Issue-31 decision which
allows missing alt to be conforming when the meta generator flag is
present. Steve Faulkner has prepared a change proposal which the Text
Subteam, and then the HTML-A11Y Task Force has reviewed and resolved to
support.

RESOLUTION: The TF endorses the proposal at
   http://www.w3.org/html/wg/wiki/ChangeProposal/meta_name%3Dgenerator_does_not_make_missing_alt_conforming
pending confirmation of removal by Steve of the current text in
the Negative Effects section, with 48 hours for anyone on the TF
	mailing list to state objections.

The change proposal at the above URI is now in the form the Task Force
requested of Steve.

The TF resolution, together with minutes of the discussion leading up to
it, is logged at:
http://www.w3.org/2012/02/02-html-a11y-minutes.html

The email advising all Task Force participants of this consensus resolution
received no responses:
