 Dear Judy, Shadi and all:

Many thanks for your kind reply and attention to this issue.

The file we were referring to is not the attached to the message sent the 20
october but the one attached to a later message in november
(http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-auth-trans-ca/2006Nov/0002.html)
called "ReplicaSidar.rtf". This document contains the last comments made by
Sidar, that are only new arguments supporting the previous comments. The LTO
replied that it was impossible to include any of these suggestions because
the deadline was ended.

The pending suggestions are 14 in total and we've found the following three
being the most important:

1) "image map" was translated as "imatge sensible" which could be translated
back to English as "sensitive imatge". We think that "mapa d'imatge" is a
more accurate translation and a expression commonly used by the community.

2) "If color alone is used to convey information" was translated as "Si el
color per si mateix" that could be translated back to english as "If color
itself" that could lead somebody to think that color is *always* a bad
choice for conveying information. We think that "Si únicament s'utilitza el
color" is the correct translation.

3) "Automated methods are generally rapid and *convenient* but cannot
identify all accessibility issues" was translated as "Els procediments
automàtics són ràpids i *barats* però no detecten tots els aspectes de
l'accessibilitat". We think that "barats" ("cheap" in english) is not the
better translation for "convenient". We suggest "convenients" instead,
because the translation of convenient as cheap doesn't fit to the meaning of
speed, simplicity, comfort, immediateness that doesn't have relation with
the price of the tools.

There are other corrections still pending besides these ones, but these
three are the most important because the change in the meaning could lead
someone to a misunderstanding of the text.

We hope to have the chance to discuss all these questions with the LTO and
the rest of organizations that took part in the revision of the authorized
translation with the goal to reach a better quality translation.

[cite (translated from
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-auth-trans-ca/2006Nov/0003)]

“we're sorry not to be able to include the last suggestions proposed by
SIDAR in the process of

revision as the 3 November finished the deadline and it's already in hands
of the Consortium for its definite approval.

As LTO we compromise to take into account and to offer under discussion the
last received proposals of SIDAR in any new process of revision of the W3C
guidelines that we begin. Likewise, we ask to all collaborators that they
take them into account in their translations they are authorized or not.”

Sincerely,
Emmanuelle, in behalf of the SIDAR revision team for the WCAG 1.0
translation into catalán:

Hi Emmanuelle,

Apologies for being so unclear in my message. In addition to Judy's
clarification, please note that I am only referring to the issues that were
*not* addressed. Also, there is no need to translate the full details or
discussion, just a brief summary as needed may help.

Regards,
   Shadi
