Interesting. There are conflicting requirements. If you use p:import-functions in one step, those imported functions aren't supposed to be visible in other steps. I had to rework things a fair bit to make that possible. It's very possible that I've been (accidentally or intentionally, I'm not guessing) overzealous and now there are "too many" configurations.
