The current resolution of issue 442 [1] allows extensions to provide protocol-dependent metainformation and context, but nothing is defined. An extension for HTTP (the most common case) or a subset of MIME-based protocol. One use case is an automatic update of a mesh of HTTP caches where a notification can carry a HTTP entity body and all meta-information (and context) needed for a HTTP cache.
