Dick Brooks - introduction

My name is Dick Brooks and I'm an invited expert representing the
OASIS-UN/CEFACT ebXML initiative.

I've been working on Internet E-Commerce standards since 1992/93 beginning
with RFC 1767, "MIME Encapsulation of EDI Objects". I'm involved with
several E-Commerce initiatives including:
- co-author of the IETF Internet Draft "HTTP Transport for Secure EDI",
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ediint-as2-07.txt
- co-author of ebXML's Messaging Service Specification
- co-chair of the Gas Industry Standards Board Internet EDI Standard (EDM)
Committee
- Advisor to the New York public utility commission on Internet E-Commerce
standardization

I'm CTO and a co-founder of Group 8760 (created in 1996), the leading
provider of E-Commerce software to the deregulated energy market. I've been
in the computing industry since 1974, spent 17 years at Digital Equipment
Corporation mostly as a programmer/software engineer and started my own
company, TECH-COMM, in 1993 (which was later merged into Group 8760). I'm a
member of the IEEE and the ACM.

I look forward to sharing ebXML's experience gained over the past year
developing B2B protocol standards for XML and participation in the W3C/XP
standards development effort.
