The list of needs ("...to ensure message integrity and privacy, the need to be aware of delivery semantics, and the need to support more complex exchange patterns for long-lived sessions and for transactional semantics") should be explicityly referred to as a non-exhaustive list of examples. Language like 'such needs as...' would do the trick.
