We are pleased to announce the official release of version 1.0 of the
Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting:
* The protocol document is available at

* A FAQ about the Open Archives Initiative and about the protocol is
available at http://www.openarchives.org/faq.htm .
* The Open Archives home page is still at http://www.openarchives.org .

Two Open Meetings to support the release of the protocol document have
been scheduled:
* The US meeting, January 23rd 2001, Washington DC
(http://www.openarchives.org/DC2001/OpenMeeting.html).  The registration
for this meeting is closed.
* The EC meeting, February 26th 2001, Berlin Germany
(http://www.openarchives.org/Berlin2001/OpenMeeting.html).  The
registration for this meeting is still open.
