This is one of two messages conveying preliminary information about the next ZIG meeting, to be held December 6-8 (Wednesday through Friday), in Washington DC at the Library of Congress. More formal information will be available soon; watch the Maintenance Agency page. This message pertains to scheduling. Another detailed message describes tentative focus sessions. When we first scheduled the meeting, I was unable to obtain a large room for Wednesday (December 6), so we said (at the time) that we would schedule smaller, breakout meetings for Wednesday. Since then however, we've decided that we really don't need a full-day of breakout meetings; for the past two meetings we have had only a couple occasions where there were multiple concurrent meetings. For most so-called "breakout" meetings, everone attends, and so we've started calling these "focus sessions" instead. I had originally booked the Mumford room for Thursday and Friday but no large room for Wednesday. Recently I was able to book the Pickford room (which should hold everyone) for Wedesday, but only from 11-5. The result is that we don't have a large room available Wednesday until 11, so I would like to schedule breakout meetings for the that morning. If you would like to hold a breakout meeting, please let me know. Depending on how many are scheduled, and for how long, we could do one of the following: (1) have concurrent breakout meetings until 11, with ZIG meeting(s) from 11-5, with a late lunch in the middle; or (2) have breakout meetings, until, say, 12, lunch break, then begin ZIG at 1. or, other suggestions are welcome. Again, please let me know soon if you want to hold a breakout meeting. See related message: "December ZIG: proposed focus sessions". -- Ray Denenberg Library of Congress rden@loc.gov 202-707-5795
