As concerns "write MARC records" this is just as well-defined as retrieval of MARC records: Writing MARC records was essentially the purpose in mind when the database update Extended Service was conceived. Looking at the ASN.1 for ESFormat-Update, within TaskPackageRecordStructure : recordOrSurDiag : record -- that's where the MARC record would go (encoded as an external, with an OID to identify it as a MARC record). As concerns "overwrite (delete) MARC records", Ralph's advice is good: "LeVan,Ralph" wrote: > ... look at the Union Catalog > Profile developed in New Zealand/Australia. > http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/agency/profiles/ucp.doc. . > -- Ray Denenberg Library of Congress rden@loc.gov 202-707-5795
