Guys, We have just released the first version of a Perl Interface for the "generic front-end server" component of the YAZ toolkit. Basically, this is a Perl Module which provides a simple API which hides the complexity of Z39.50 session management, PDU serialisation, and network operations. All you have to worry about it creating a "glue layer" for your own database. Apart from Perl's suitability for the type of high-level activities typically required by a database model conversion layer, you can draw on a pretty impressive suite of add-on tools - including database access, data crunching, record creation and filtering in XML and MARC, etc. It is freeware. <http://www.indexdata.dk/simpleserver/> --Sebastian -- Sebastian Hammer <quinn@indexdata.dk> Index Data ApS Ph.: +45 3341 0100 <http://www.indexdata.dk> Fax: +45 3341 0101
