There are some changes and adjustments to the ZIG meeting schedule; see http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/agency/zig/meetings/dc2000/agenda.html Here is a summary of the changes: The Opening Plenary meeting will begin at 11:30, Wednesday, December 6 (change from preliminary schedule which said 12:30). We will break at 1:30 for 45 minutes, so either eat lunch before 11:30, or wait until 1:30. We will plan to meet until 6:30 Wednesday, with a 15 minute break sometime between 2:15 and 5. The plenary will end at 5, and during the latter 90 minutes (5-6:30) there will be a focus session on profiles and a breakout session on the U.S. National Profile (change from preliminary schedule which listed these for the morning). For Thursday sessions: the Z39.50/XML session will be shortened to 2 hours. The Virtual Library session will be lengthened to 2 hours and will incorporate distributed searching (which will otherwise be dropped), and it will be moved to Thursday -- after discussion and consideration it seems that both the Z-URL and Explain sessions should follow the more application-oriented sessions, Virtual Libraries and Digital Libraries, because these sessions may produce requirements for the url and for Explain. So the URL session will be moved to Friday (the Explain session is already scheduled for Friday). The schedule is still subject to change and if you have comments, they are welcome. --Ray -- Ray Denenberg Library of Congress rden@loc.gov 202-707-5795
