Well, you can always set the title for the generated PDF manually. If you're using Apache FOP 0.92beta or later, you can set the title on the FOUserAgent. See: http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/0.92/embedding.html#user-agent I assume you know best what the filenames are because FOP may only get a SAX stream with the XSL-FO and may never know from which XML the document was derived.
