Re: [Bug 4886] proposal for alternative language for defining derived datatypes (ADDENDUM)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

(a)
I forgot to note that the last point I entered into question relates
to the section

3.17.2.2 'References to Schema Components from Elsewhere' of
'Schema Definition Language (XSDL) 1.1 Part 1: Structures'.

The there mentioned XPointer solution is rather unhandsome and a
XPointer implementation would be needed as well.

There and also in section 2.7 it is stated, that the MIME type of
XSDL is application/xml or text/xml. Hasn't it be proposed several
times that there is a need for MIME type for XSDL (e.g. application/
schema+xml)?
This point and the interpretation of the fragment identifier as
well has already been discussed in this mailing list.

As I am rather new to this topic I do not know if there are efforts
to establish a special MIME type, but if true, one could also specify
how to reference a type definition via a fragment identifier. If not,
I am keen enough to raise the question again.

(b)
The current text of above mentioned section:

'Short-form fragment identifiers may also be used in some cases, that
is when a DTD or XSDL schema is available for the schema in question,
and the provision of an id attribute for the representations of all
primary and secondary schema components, which is of type ID, has
been exploited.'

could be replaced by something like:

'Short-form fragment identifiers may also be used to refere to the id
attribute of a schema component.'

The last part of current sentence is not necessary because you can
never guarantee that the referenced fragment (or even the resource
itself) exists, so why demanding the existence of the id attribute?
