Some of the items described in this issue report are addressed
in the wording proposals adopted at today's WG call; some are
addressed in the pending wording proposal at
http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/06/xmlschema-1/structures.treetrimming.200702.html
(W3C member-only link).
Specifically, the WG has agreed to allow arbitrary XPath expressions in
assertions. Processors are not required to support all of XPath,
only the defined subset, so expressions outside the defined subset will
only be supported by processors which support more than the subset.
But schema authors can legally write such expressions. Also, a
[failed assertions] property is now defined.
The remaining items on this list appear to me to be editorial, so
I am adding the keyword 'editorial' to this issue and propose to try
to address the concerns regarding clarity and nuance in editorial
proposals, later.
