http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=2189 Summary: R-196: Add health warning on use of whitespace facet on elements Product: XML Schema Version: 1.0 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: XSD Part 2: Datatypes AssignedTo: cmsmcq@w3.org ReportedBy: sandygao@ca.ibm.com QAContact: www-xml-schema-comments@w3.org This was formerly RQ-127. We request that a health warning be added at the most appropriate place in the XML Schema spec, to warn schema users against specifying whiteSpace="replace" or "collapse" on elements (and even attributes) meant to contain anything but highly constrained text such as lists, as it will not do what they think ("unexpected"!) and will in fact prevent later processing steps from doing the Right Thing.
