http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=1927 Summary: EP-15: simplify the way lexical and canonical mappings are referred to from the text Product: XML Schema Version: 1.1 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: XSD Part 2: Datatypes AssignedTo: cmsmcq@w3.org ReportedBy: cmsmcq@w3.org QAContact: www-xml-schema-comments@w3.org The use of boxes with name, argument structure, and so on in the sections of Datatypes where the lexical and canonical mappings are supplied is cumbersome. The information is completely predictable in virtually all respects: the lexical mapping maps from a literal to a value of the appropriate type, and the canonical mapping goes the other way. The only piece of information in the box is the name of the function defined in the appendix. This proposal suggests changing the discussions of the lexical and canonical mappings for each type to make the references in a lighter-weight fashion: eliminate the box and repetitive details, and retain only the function name, hyperlinked to the definition.
