XSFD: processing model

I think it would be helpful if XSFD provided an additional introductory
paragraph describing the "processing model".  How do normalization and
validation fit together?  I'm guessing that you normalization is applied to
the XML infoset produced by an XML processor to produce a typed forest, and
that this is the input to the validation process.
