Defining Xlinks in XMLschema

Hi

I have not seen anything about defining xlinks in XMLschema.

1.    Presumably in-line link elements need to be declared as children of
mixed elements?

2.    If so, is there a way of making a global declaration so that the same
link element can be used within any elements without specific declaration?

3.    Presumably if the xlink namespace is declared within a link element,
there is no need to declare the xlink attributes - type, href, show, etc -
within a schema?
