Hello,
Here's a list of minor editorial comments on XPointer Last Call
Working Drafts. These are purely editorial and my personal comments;
I might send other (possibly) substantial comments as part of some
WG's Last Call comments later.
XPointer Framework [1]
3.2 Shorthand Pointer
- It would be helpful to have an explicit reference to "3.3.8 ID"
of XML Schema Part 2 [2] when the spec talks about XML Schema ID type.
The spec only have a reference to XML Schema Part 1, but I sometimes
have hard time to find a definition in the XML Schema specs ...
A References
- I would suggest to follow guidelines described in the W3C Manual of
Style, "9.5 References" [3]. Particular recommendations include:
- If a reference is a W3C Recommendation track technical report
that has not reached Recommendation, state in the References
section that it is "work in progress."
- If there is an institutionalized identifier (URI) for a document,
cite the most specific identifier.
- Reference titles are recommended, not the "URI-in-your-face"
idiom, as link text
- For reference to RFC, www.rfc-editor.org should be used rather than
www.ietf.org.
These comments also apply to references in other two drafts.
A.2 Non-Normative References
- Unlike other references, the "HTML " entry doesn't include editors'
names, but it should.
- The "RDF" entry refers to the RDF/XML Syntax Specification, but
the URI points to the RDF Model and Syntax Specification. Although
the former is a revision to the latter, you should not confuse
readers by having an inconsistent reference.
XPointer element() Scheme [4]
3 Language and Processing
- In the paragraph preceding the following example,
element(intro/3/1)
"intro" in
... identified by the value ""intro"", ...
seems overly quoted.
XPointer xmlns Scheme() [5]
- No paticular editorial comments, except for the same set of comments
on references.
