I apologize that this is later than the due date.

The section on encoding needs to be reworded.  The current version is
confusing,
especially the first paragraph of s2.2. The mention of "bytes"  seems
strange: it is
not clear what the "result" is who is responsible for making it.

Secondly, it an ugly-making requirement that an unbalanced parenthesis
inside a
literal requires escaping.  Surely the presence of the literal
delimiters is enough?
