CALL FOR PAPERS

========================================================================
        2nd International Workshop on Software Aspects of Context (IWSAC05)
               http://diuf.unifr.ch/people/kouadri/iwsac05

In conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Services 2005 (ICPS'05)
http://icps2005.cs.ucr.edu/
14 July 2005, Santorini, Greece
========================================================================

SCOPE
-----

To better assist users, smart devices must sense and react to the user's environment or "context." Almost any information available at the
time of an interaction between a system and a user can be seen as contextual information. Some examples are obtained through sensors:
spatial information (e.g. location, orientation), temporal information (e.g. time of the day, date), who you are with, and people that are
nearby, resources that are nearby (e.g. accessible devices, and hosts), etc.
There is a lot of such information provided by sensors. We call it the context of the interaction. However, for a given focus, only a part
of this information could present an interest for the current focus. We thus distinguish between the contextual information and the
external information. We are interested by capturing and modeling the contextual information, and how a part of this contextual information is assembled, organized, and structured in a proceduralized context.
Such information is used to design adaptive systems and to provide custom services to users based on their profile and preferences.
Pervasive environments are the prime field for context-aware computing where many applications have emerged in the last decade.

By organizing this workshop, we aim at addressing the problem of context management, modeling, and use from a software engineering
perspective.

TOPICS
------

Original contributions are solicited in all context-aware computing research
and applications. Topics include, but are not limited to:

* Software aspects of context acquisition tools and techniques
* Object-oriented techniques applied to user modeling and context modeling
* Software frameworks for Context-aware applications.
* Design patterns applied to context-aware applications
* Context in pervasive/multi-agents systems
* Context in security issues
* Modeling context using UML
* Dealing with imperfect and unambiguous contextual information
* Building of a proceduralized context
* Management of the dynamic dimension of context
* Management of context in an evolving environment
* Context in decision support systems
* Context for web services

PAPER SUBMISSIONS
-----------------

IWSAC'05 invites authors to submit original and unpublished work. Papers must respect the template of the main conference
(see at http://icps2005.cs.ucr.edu/index.html).
Please send your electronic submission to ghita.kouadrimostefaoui@unifr.ch in pdf format.
The workshop proceedings will be published online in the CEUR series of workshops (http://www.CEUR-ws.org). Full acceptance of the paper and publication in the workshop proceedings suppose that at least one of the authors is registered
to the main conference.

Pending: A selection of the best papers would be proposed for a special issue of The International Journal of Computing and Information
Sciences (IJCIS).
