My initial attempt for the first 7. Hao Availability If a service offered by a service provider can be consumed by a service consumer, the service is available to the consumer. Availability = -log(1-ta/T), where log is 10 based, ta is available time, and T is total time. For example, if a service is available in 99% of time, its availability is 2. Configuration The collection of properties that can be changed during deployment time and run time. Control Send management operations to a server. Management capabilities Each management capability is identified by a URI, which represents a management operation or metrics. Management operation An operation that causes the change of server life-cycles or value of metrics. Performance Monitoring Tracking performance metrics, which is usually a function of time, and number of life cycle events of requests. Resource Accounting A management capability that provides quantitative information about service resources. -----Original Message----- From: Heather Kreger [mailto:kreger@us.ibm.com] Sent: Saturday, February 01, 2003 6:12 AM To: www-ws-arch@w3.org Subject: [MTF] Definition of management terms Hugo has asked us to provide some management terms for the glossary: 6. As discussed during last week's face-to-face meeting, this is an email to notify you, as head of the MTF, that I have noted in the Web Services Glossary that the definitions of management terms were assigned to the MTF and to give you a pointer to the management-related definitions missing: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-ws-arch/2002Oct/0195.html Thank you.
