Regarding structured datatypes: I had high hopes that an OWL treatment of structured datatypes would provide a mechanism by which semantics might be defined for various XML languages. This would allow an easier integration of XML data on the Semantic Web. At present due to a number of circumstances including: 1) the inability to generally give a URIref to an XML Schema datatype 2) the current state of XML Schema formalism (not complete) 3) the inability to have typed XML literals as RDF datatypes 4) lack of time for the WebOnt WG 5) lack of overwhelming motivation on the part of WebOnt WG members to solve some of the tricky problems that may result in treating structured XML datatypes. 6) and perhaps most importantly- lack of a code implementation that allows equality comparisons for PSVIs representing typed XML literals suitable for inclusion in an OWL reasoner. I agree that it is best to POSTPONE the issue for a later WG. Jonathan http://www.jonathanborden-md.com http://www.erieneurosurgery.com http://www.openhealth.org
