All, I was stunned today to realize that the kickoff meeting for the DARPA DAML program was held only two years ago this month (I lost a beer betting it was longer ago than that) -- Web Ontology Langauge has come an incredible distance in that short time, and I want to thank ALL of you for the incredibly hard work you've all put into getting us so far so fast -- we still have work to do, but compared to how far we've come in so short a time, it's not too bad. (Last night the DAML crawler found over 4,200,000 million DAML statements on close to 20,000 web pages - not bad for a couple of years!!) -JH p.s. 18 months ago, Tim Berners-Lee joked that he would buy me a beer if we got the language to CR by the end of 2002 -- we're on track - so please help me win back the one I lost at lunch today :-> -- Professor James Hendler hendler@cs.umd.edu Director, Semantic Web and Agent Technologies 301-405-2696 Maryland Information and Network Dynamics Lab. 301-405-6707 (Fax) Univ of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742 240-731-3822 (Cell) http://www.cs.umd.edu/users/hendler
