Chair's report of the Voice Browser Working Group face-to-face meeting in Oslo, Norway, September 20-23, 2006 We reviewed the latest internal version of SCXML. We agreed to introduce an <anchor> element. Each time an <anchor> element is encountered during the processing of a SCXML specification, a snapshot of the database is placed onto a stack. Users may revert to earlier states by popping snapshots off of this stack. Torbjoern Lager from the Linguistics department of Goeteborg University presented an overview of his Synergy SCXML implementation [http://www.ling.gu.se/~lager/Labs/SCXML-Lab <http://www.ling.gu.se/%7Elager/Labs/SCXML-Lab> <http://www.ling.gu.se/%7Elager/Labs/SCXML-Lab> ] and discussed suggestions for enhancing the SCXML Language. We reviewed and revised an internal draft of requirements for Speaker Identification and Verification for VoiceXML 3.0 based on the work of our sister committee, VoiceXML Forum's Biometric Committee [http://www.voicexml.org/resources/biometrics.html ]. We agreed to publish the power point files used during the SpeechTEK Conference tutorial "Sneak Peek at VoiceXML 3.0." These files will be available on the voice browser working group website (http://www.w3.org/Voice/) in a few days. They represent a snapshot of our thinking for VoiceXML 3.0, and are subject to change without notice as we proceed with defining VoiceXML 3.0. We reviewed and revised an internal draft of updated requirements for VoiceXML 3.0. We spent several hours reviewing "semantic models" of key VoiceXML 3.0 modules. We believe by working out the semantics of key modules before updating the VoiceXML 2.0 syntax and specifying additional VoiceXML 3.0 syntax, the modules will be well-defined and easier to integrate into a cohesive VoiceXML 3.0 language. Thanks to Opera for providing facilities and refreshments, as well as the sun shining weather in Oslo. Our next face-to-face is scheduled for Boston on January 22-24, 2007.
