Missing source from Colin Hume on 2019-01-31 (www-validator@w3.org from February 2019)

When I validate http://mlecs.com/English/login.asp I get errors about things being within <Span> tags and a <Span> tag not being 
closed at EOF.  The source listing shows missing HTML after the arrow denoting a carriage-return, and the source terminates 
part-way through a <LI> tag.  But if I click View Source from my browser that page is all there, and if I then upload that HTML 
file to my server it validates correctly.

Am I doing something stupid, or is there something wrong with the validator?
