RE: My My how a lot of web masters like the warmth of having their heads in the sand ................. & Has W3C lost the plot?

Is your website by chance HeyYouKidsGetOffMyLawn.cheap, or maybe it’s TinFoilHat.exposed?

My opinion remains the same: Why don’t you just buy a new cellphone?

Subject: My My how a lot of web masters like the warmth of having their heads in the sand ................. & Has W3C lost the plot?

[first A bit of internet history]

Back in the late 1990's I was learning HTML there was a some table code that did not make sense from what I found on Internet with what was taught by some of the HTML books, it was about that time one of my friends gave my a browser called “Opera” it was the only browser at the time that could fit on a 1.4 megabyte non-floppy disk, when other browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer software was more like 10 Megabytes in file size. I tried my HTML code on opera and did not like it, it was a total unreadable mess, when it worked fine on our well known MS Internet explorer.

It was about this time Dave Raggett came up with his HTML tidy it was a effort for webmasters to start cleaning up their work with correctly written HTML web pages. My first HTML page I tested on HTML-tidy that would take about 5 pages to print had about 200 errors, or half a dozen repeated errors, it was not until it passed with HTML-tidy that it worked fine with the Opera browser.
Then it became obvious a lot of tables written on websites had opening tags for Table Row <tr> & Table Data <td> but no closing tags </td> </tr> it used the much over bloated browser software to correct these errors, and this is why Opera was able to get its software so small.

[end of history rant]

[my point]
Just like 20 years ago when there was two types of webpages one type only worked on browsers like Internet Explorer and not Opera and the other correctly written webpages that worked on all browsers.

Now today we are faced when another sad trend, out there now there are two types of web pages, one type of webpages can display on my old 2G cellphone and other webpages are a almost a mess, some webpages have printing or text displayed of other text making it impossible to read, thats nothing to do with those pop up messages that you can click (sometimes) .

A good example is http://www.siliconchip.com.au this works fine on my cellphone and anybody that looks at the page HTML code might notice that page was written by their webmaster who knows their beans on HTML as there is couple of errors on it (at least it was last time I went there) one error was, they used a uppercase letter in their HTML code when it should have been all lowercase (you have either all uppercase or all lowercase). So I am sure if someone from this group runs their website in the validatetor it will show up with some errors, My own personnel website works fine on my old cellphone because it was written with Microsoft Notepad using my HTML knowledge.

There are other websites that fails on my cellphone like google, DuckDuckGo and bookdepository.com then there is https://www.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz/ just to mention four, while their webpage displays sort of alright, the search feature does not work, in fact if I am interested in searching for a book to buy at book depository, I have to send them a email and still they can not fix it, when I tell the reason for email each time.

Once before I raised this point with some moron who replied saying “why dont you buy a new cellphone?” I dont see why I should splash out buying a new cell phone costing a few years saving every time someone comes up with new software to publish something coded up with HTML for Internet.
The end of last year, I registered a new website dominion, and got flooded with people emailing and ringing me up wanting to make my website, with one phone call, I said I was going to make my own website, they asked “what program software am you going to use to make the website?” I replied “Notepad” she said “whats that?” I said “ Microsoft Notepad” she still did not understand, then I hung up on her, I just just can stand talking to idiots wrecking the standards of internet, especially when they force me to waste money on buying unneeded latest cellphones, when my money could be used to buy other things I need.
