Bonjour Nicolas, You wrote the below a while ago and my colleague forwarded your note to me, which I submitted to the review of our legal counsel who got back to me with the following: The creative commons license only concerns the fact and the deriving parts that lie in the translation. But by NOT mentioning our copyright despite the requirement in the IPR-FAQ, the license statement becomes misleading. Because even for non-commercial uses, we would reject derivative works other than translations. Furthermore, working on the original text requires acceptance of several conditions. This isn't visible anymore if the statement is reduced to the Creative Commons licensing statement. Which means that we prefer that you use a different license. This part in our IPR FAQ [1] applies to your translation: [[ the translation may be redistributed according to the W3C Document License [2]. [...] In the translation, you must include the following information in the target language: * a reference to the original document * that the normative version of the specification is the English version found at the W3C site. * that the translated document may contain errors from the translation. ]] [1] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/IPR-FAQ-20000620#translate [2] http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Legal/copyright-documents.html Will will then be happy to mention this translation on our website. Let me know, please, if you need further clarification. I use your service for every project I publish on the net, and I save a lot of time thanks to your tool. I translate your FAQ in French. Can I have permission to publish it or do you want that I delete it? http://www.traduction.cc/traduction/Aide-et-questions-frequemment-posees-concernant-le-validateur-de-balisage-du-W3C-10.html Could you also mention this translation on your website?
