Hi David, > In an HTML document triggers the "Character data now allowed here" > error > (which is correct). Since this is a common cause of the error, > might it > be worth changing the extended error message? I actually recall rewriting this message a while ago... ah, here it is: http://dev.w3.org/cvsweb/validator/share/templates/en_US/ error_messages.cfg.diff?r1=1.17&r2=1.18&f=h (the revised message will be in the imminent beta... I'm just waiting for a green light on one logistical issue) I think this new message is clearer, simpler and more useful than the old. Certainly still not perfect. Your suggested message is good, too, I think I'd like to merge the two, e.g at least add the link and call the "/" character "slash". Would you like to give a go at drafting a merged version, or should I? -- olivier
