html validator won't upload

Validating 
 
Good Day, I have tried without success to upload the xhtml validator
icon to my web page without success. For some reason only the first line
will upload, as indicated below:

    <a href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=referer"><img
*********this is all that will upload************
 
I have tried all sorts of things within my limited experience with no
success, perhaps if someone could look at this and provide some advice I
will be most thankful.
