Incorrect, but not invalid. Validation of an HTML document specifically refers to checking the conformance of a document to a DTD. The rule you quoted can not be expressed in a DTD. You wouldn't expect a spell checker to find a problem with "Me saw my Gran in her bicycle.", likewise the detection of a missing default style language specification isn't the job of a validator. -- David Dorward http://dorward.me.uk
