The pages on validator.w3.org are, AFAICT, all valid. This problem is most likely caused by your browser when saving the file. Many popular browsers including IE, Mozilla, Firefox and Opera will, in some circumstances, alter the markup when the file is saved. Some cause more errors than others (with Opera causing the least); but in each of them, the problems only resulted when the HTML was saved with all images (called "Web Page, complete" in IE and FF). When the HTML is saved as just the HTML with no images ("Web Page, HTML only"), the markup is not altered and remains valid. I recommend you always save files as HTML only, until such time as browsers save files correctly with either option. -- Lachlan Hunt http://lachy.id.au/ http://GetFirefox.com/ Rediscover the Web http://SpreadFirefox.com/ Igniting the Web
