<http://validator.w3.org/check/foo> is broken?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

<http://validator.w3.org/check/foo> used to validate the URI 'foo'.
This appears to no longer work (despite being used, for the case
foo=referer, in the sample HTML on the validation page).

<http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=referer&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline>
works, but that's not good enough: I've no idea how many pages use the old
URI, but it must be a large number.
