I've just put up a couple of pages with demonstrations of short tags in 
them

http://delivery.unite.net/shorttags.html - which uses short tags, but is 
otherwise `good'

http://delivery.unite.net/evil.html - which is the nastiest HTML 4.01 
strict I could come up with in a short space of time.
