First to place my comment in context - I have used the HTML and CSS validation services infrequently, however I am starting to use the service extensively during a conversion to XHTML. I particularly like the helpful diagnostic messages and clickable links to the source line number when this option is selected. Since I make extensive use of XSSI features with apache I have no idea of my line numbers without the 'Show Source' option or an error prone manual line count. This leads to my comment, I have just hit some pages in which the XHTML validator is complaining that certain line numbers do not contain valid UTF-8 codings. However in spite of checking the 'Show Source' option the validator aborts after this check and does not display the source. I could see some reasons why this may be difficult but it really is a huge loss for anyone with dynamically generated or pseudo dynamically generated HTML/XHTML code. Many thanks for the great service. Regards -- Ron Aitchison http://www.zytrax.com ZyTrax mailto:raitchison@zytrax.com 70 rue Notre Dame West Montreal Quebec H2Y 1S6 Tel:(514) 285.9088
