Summary: Content-type missing stops validation
Product: Validator
Version: 0.8.0b1
Platform: PC
URL: http://validator-test.w3.org/detailed.html#validate-by-
uri
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Parser
AssignedTo: link@pobox.com
ReportedBy: alancunn@onetel.com
QAContact: www-validator-cvs@w3.org
The options > Character encoding menu has no obvious function. If the
content-type meta tag is missing the parser defaults to utf-8 regardless of the
menu selection. This is a problem when the website needs iso-8859-1 (Western
European)
