Background and Objectives As Automation becomes more wide spread and pervasive, the vision of intelligent and collaborative industrial environments with dynamic, agile and reconfigurable enterprise structures has become a reality. As industrial systems have become more intelligent, automated, dynamic and distributed and monitoring and control of operations has shifted towards the Internet as is the case for sales and e-services. A key factor in the success of such industrial environments is the creation of the underpinning information infrastructure to carry out the required services. The development of frontier technologies, that lie on the intersection between Industry, business and advanced ICT systems form the very foundations of Industrial Informatics. This conference continues the highly successful series of IEEE conferences on Industrial Informatics held in 2003 in Canada and 2004 in Germany. INDIN is an annual conference and closely collaborates with industry and business. Call for Papers Prospective participants are invited to electronically submit a full paper (6 pages, about 4500 words, pdf or WinWord file) of their original work following the IEEE instructions available on the website of the conference. Selected best papers will be invited to submit to IEEE Transaction on Industrial Informatics. Our city is located on the Swan River and the Indian Ocean, affording a temperate environment all year around. Our multi-cultural population makes for a diverse range of activities for you to experience while visiting and our easy-going nature will make you feel welcome and relaxed. Perth, voted one of the most liveable cities in the world, is leading the way in innovation, investment, industry development and exports. The spacious city with many parks is surrounded by wonderful areas for site seeing including wineries, beaches, bird life, and natural wonders such as Wave Rock, the Pinnacles and to the North the Ningaloo Reef or explore the beehive-like formations of the Bungle Bungles with the help of an Aboriginal guide. In the city, you can enjoy a cold beer in an open-air pub, shopping at affordable prices, the bustling weekend markets, and tasty outdoor international cuisine. Western Australia has enormous mineral and petroleum resources as well as rural and non-rural industries stimulating the Australian economy and covering diverse technological developments in fields such as bio-industries, manufacturing, ICT, transport logistics, ship building, imports and exports. The mature industry provides advances in marketing intelligence and emerging knowledge through a Western Australian base encouraging overseas trading and investment. We are honoured to host this prestigious conference in Perth. --------- ,--_|\ Dr Robert Steele / \ rsteele@it.uts.edu.au \_,--._* http://www-staff.it.uts.edu.au/~rsteele/ v Senior Lecturer Department of Computer Systems Faculty of Information Technology University of Technology, Sydney PO Box 123 Broadway NSW 2007 Australia Tel: 61 2 9514 7872, Fax: 61 2 9514 1807
