Re: Fwd: New Version Notification for draft-nottingham-uri-get-off-my-lawn-00.txt

A reminder that the TAG's finding on Metadata in URIs [1]  seems pertinent 
to this. I'm not immediately seeing any hard conflicts, but haven't had the 
time to read the new draft carefully.

I am little surprised to see:

"Applications SHOULD NOT directly specify the syntax of queries, as this 
can cause operational difficulties for deployments that do not support a 
particular form of a query."

Isn't this ruling out the most obvious common practice for queries, e.g. 
that the Google Maps application sets out rather strict (and important) 
rules for the syntax and interpretation of its query strings? What am I 
missing?
