I strongly urge all TAG members, as well as others interested in the future of HTML, to read the W3C Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the future of XHTML [1]. It provides concise answers to many questions relating to plans for future work on HTML, and related technologies such as XForms. Among other things, I note that: "W3C plans to organize a panel at TPAC 2009 on the topic of decentralized extensibility in HTML and will continue to try to bring the community together to find a solution."
