It doesn't seem too unreasonable for Firefox to ignore the link type attribute, given that it is a browser with HTML as its first language. But it does seem a tricky situation when a browser may be equally capable of rendering a multitude of representations in a reasonably sophisticated fashion. I've got the Firefox with the Tabulator extension and would (maybe) prefer that to seeing pretty-printed RDF/XML source. But if a HTML representation of the same resource has been provided by the publisher, I'd (probably) prefer to see that.

I would guess this could already covered by content negotiation on the wire, but when it comes to making those rules human-comprehensible ...I wouldn't know where to start. Are there any best practice docs (around WAI maybe?) or TAG discussion for this kind of situation?

If the agent is data-aware, then it may aim to to maximise its knowledge, which in most cases would probably mean getting all available representations - is there any way of providing hints in that scenario?

Cheers,
Danny.
