Summary of TAG activity from 1st November 2006 to 31 January 2007

  This is a summary of the TAG's activity from 1st November 2006 (end date
  of the previous summary [1]) to 31 January 2007.

  1. Meetings

    During this period the TAG held eight teleconferences and one
    face-to-face meeting [2]:

       *  11-13 December 2006, Cambridge, MA, USA

    Agendas for these meetings are available in TAG public email archive [3].
    Minutes are linked from the TAG's home page [4].

  2. Issues

    All TAG issues are detailed in the issues list [5].

    During the reporting period the TAG closed an issue:

       *  metaDataInURI-31 [6]: Should metadata (e.g., versioning information)
          be encoded in URIs?

    and accepted a new issue:

       *  utf7Encoding-55 [7]: Security concerns with browsers sniffing
          unlabelled UTF7 encoding

  3. Findings

    The TAG approved a finding:

       *  The use of Metadata in URIs [8] (2 January 2007)

    and updated three draft findings:

       *  Password in the Clear [9] (12 Dec 2006)
       *  Extending and Versioning XML Languages Part 1 [10] (12 Dec. 2006)
       *  Extending and Versioning Languages: XML Languages [11] (12 Dec. 2006)

  4. Upcoming

    The next TAG face-to-face meeting is scheduled for

       *  6-7 March 2007, Cambridge, MA, USA

  5. Appointments and Elections

    Tim Berners-Lee appointed Stuart Williams (HP), to the TAG to serve as
    co-chair.

    TAG elections [13] ended 15th January with the election of Rhys Lewis
    (Volantis Systems), David Orchard (BEA), and Norm Walsh (Sun
    Microsystems).

    Continuing TAG participants are Dan Connolly (W3C), Noah Mendelsohn (IBM),
    T. V. Raman (Google), Henry Thompson (University of Edinburgh), and
    co-Chair Tim Berners-Lee.

    The terms of retiring TAG members Vincent Quint (INRIA) and Ed Rice (HP)
    formally ended on 31st January, however they will continue to participate
    in TAG meetings through an informal transition period that ends 7th March
    2007, the end of the next face-to-face meeting.
