Thanks for your reply Steven. It seems you misunderstood my request. I
think we should have a document that explains to XHTML family document
type authors when they should use simple class="" attributes and when
they should use xhtml:class="" attributes in their new document types;
and along with that a design document that explains when designers of
formats like XHTML and SVG should export attributes as XHTML does now,
and when they should prohibit such use as in SVG. It seems if it makes
sense for XHTML extensions to use xhtml:class, it could make sense for
SVG extensions to use svg:class. Or maybe they should use xhtml:class
to reduce variability, I don't know really, that's why I asked the WG
to discuss this with the TAG.

In the issue tracker I see the response is now changed from "None" to
"This was addressed for M12N 1.1 PR draft by making the use of qualified
namespaces mandatory on non-XHTML namespace elements." I'm not sure I
understand this, doesn't this say that XHTML extensions must not use
e.g. a "class" attribute? I'm not sure this is reflected in the PR. It
would have been nice if the Working Group actually informed me of this
disposition, but well.

Would you mind changing the user status of the item to properly indicate
that I've registered formal objection to the "response"? If I remember
correctly, Robin Berjon also expressed some concerns relative to this,
but I couldn't find that in the tracker. Do you know why?

While I do think the profile="" attribute issue is relevant to the TAG
issue RDFinXHTML-35, I agree that www-html is a better forum for it. I
see the tracker has now been updated -- thanks -- I've already followed
up there. I'll do the same for the other issues, to www-html and www-
archive + process-issues respectively.
