Speaking of rug pulling, Martin Duerst was just pointed out to me that the latest draft of IRIs <http://www.w3.org/International/iri-edit/draft-duerst-iri.txt> now removes the < and > characters from what's allowed in an IRI. However, section 9 of the namespaces spec indicates that these characters are legal in IRIs. It's not too late to fix this inconsistency in Namespaces so it's in sync with IRIs, but there may yet be other subtle shifts like this one further down the line before IRIs get finished. XML specs that want to use IRIs really need to wait until the IRI spec is complete. -- Elliotte Rusty Harold elharo@metalab.unc.edu Processing XML with Java (Addison-Wesley, 2002) http://www.cafeconleche.org/books/xmljava http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN%3D0201771861/cafeaulaitA
