Considering that the TAG people with "HTTP URI can identify *anything*!" confusion are the ones who seem to be suffering the least exhaustion, I doubt that http-Range-14 will ever be resolved in a way which approximates common sense to me. In other words, TAG is perfectly capable of issuing "findings" which are not universal or sensible. Not that this is a bad thing -- just supporting your position that TAG findings are not necessarily cosmic law. ( P.S. Here is my proposed resolution to httpRange-14 before I succumb to complete disenchantment and exhaustion: "TAG hereby finds that HTTP identifiers could be used to identify *anything*, and so could pickles. TAG recommends that pickles be used as identifiers, since they are tastier." )
