Dear www-tag, This is a summary of the TAG's activity since 4 April, date of the previous summary [1]. The TAG had four teleconferences and one face-to-face meeting during this period; summaries of those meetings are linked from the TAG home page [2]. During the current period, the TAG has primarily: * Planned for the TAG update at the May 2002 AC meeting and WWW 2002. Slides from the TAG's WWW 2002 update available at: http://www.w3.org/2002/Talks/www2002-tag/ * Published a finding on "Mapping between URIs and Internet Media Types" [3]. As the TAG reaches consensus about architectural principles, it will publish findings (linked from the findings page [4]). These findings will be become part of an Architectural Recommendation * Discussed the following issues: - When to use GET [5]? The TAG has focused on whether SOAP 1.2 is missing a method for safe operations. The TAG is making very good progress on this issue and is likely to publish a completed finding soon. The TAG will be communicating its findings to the XML Protocol WG. - Media-Types and W3C Specifications (issues w3cMediaType-1, customMediaType-2, and nsMediaType-3). The TAG is likely to publish a completed finding soon. - Guidelines for use of XML in IETF protocols (review of an IETF document on this topic). The TAG has engaged in active and effective discussion with the authors of this IETF document. - How to create a URI from a Qname (issue rdfmsQnameUriMapping-6 [9]). The TAG has not yet reached consensus on this issue. - What is the meaning of a document composed of content in mixed namespaces? What should a namespace document look like? (issues mixedNamespaceMeaning-13 [10] and namespaceDocument-8 [11]). The TAG has made little progress on the Architecture Document itself, in part due to lack of resources. The TAG will be working on ways to improve the current situation. Issues accepted by the TAG since the previous summary: * charmodReview-17 [7]: Request to review "Character Model for the Web 1.0" Last Call document. The TAG has agreed to review this document per request from the I18N WG. * qnameAsId-18 [8]: Is it ok to use Qnames as Identifiers?
